Sketch book page

The second week in of my break from blender and I finished yet another hockey montage. I like this one better because its of my favorite defence-men. Kris Letang! I called the video 58 Tanger because I thought it would be funny and its his nickname. I'd hope to do more and eventually edit these even more then possible.

Sketch book page

It took me long enough and I finally finished the DeLorean Animation and modeling! I restarted the project so many times and well I'm not too happy with the finished work but I'm happy how it looks and how the animation looks after changing the idea for it many times. I haven't posted it to youtube yet but when I do this post will be updated with the video embedded into it.

Sketch book page

This new project I wanted to do after the DeLorean is a bit different seeing that I'm taking a bit of a break from blender. I wanted to do something on a sport I love to watch and wish I could play. That sport is hockey and the things I wanted to do was Hockey Montages. Player montages, team montages, stuff like that. It doesn't take very long to finish and work on. I wanted to do this for a few weeks and well I finished my first ever Hockey Montage! I had a lot of fun making this even though it only took a week to finish haha.

Through out the marking period I focused my work on pop icon things. I know I didn't do much on my blog and in class so far but I really like what I have done so far. The first thing I worked on was the Stanley Cup. I wanted to make one and 3D print it and give it to my dad because our favorite hockey team just won it that summer. I'm thinking about doing the World Cup of Hockey trophy and keeping that one for myself. Although, first I need to finish my favorite project so far. The Delorean from Back to the Future! The plan is to model and animate the Delorean flying off like in the movie. It is taking a bit of time to do, in fact I haven't even started animating it yet. Once I finish it I have many ideas what to do next. I also plan on doing a lot more blog posts so I don't dig myself an even bigger grave. Take a look at some screen shots below to see my work/progress, hope you enjoyed.

Selecting Genres

There are many genres of film and many that I'm interested in. I may not get to all the genres I want to do so I'll at least get two or three that I want to do badly. The top three films I want to work on is Horror, Action, Comedy.
I love watching horror films and I get many ideas for some so that's a top I want to work on. Horror is just very exciting to me and I could always throw some comedy into it.
I'd like to focus on Comedy before Action due to many funny things that my group and I can think of.
Action is at the top but the bottom of the top 3, I want to try and get to that genre before the year ends but if I can't then that's a okay. Action might be a bit difficult when you are limited to school as your area but that wont be the problem that stops me.
Comedy seems like its the main one I want to do and this is true, but horror comes first.

Inglorious Basterds Review

Inglorious Basterds, a movie by Quentin Tarantino, is a World War II movie that's not historically accurate but very entertaining. The movie is a Spaghetti Western. Spaghetti Western meaning a movie about the American Old West made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director. Not typically something you would expect from a World War II movie. Tarantino used this genre for the film to make something the not many directors and producers can do. It made the movie special compared to other War movies. With the genre it subverts the audience's expectations for the movie. The audience was not expecting a movie that makes you laugh. Laughing at a World War II film? Yeah that doesn't normally happen. Earlier I said it wasn't very historically accurate, and I sure many people came into see the movie they thought it would be a bit more accurate.

Delorean research

For this project I wanted to make/animate the DeLorean from Back to the Future. So being so I needed to do some research on it. What I found was quite interesting. For starters, the DeLorean went through many stages in the film. That includes making it and making others to  find out which one is better to use in the film. Sooner or later they found that the Delorean that we all have seen and love, was the best one for the film.

Some Back to the Future history and research, the Delorean was used to undo bad things in the past/future. Examples being when Biff went back in time and gave his younger self a book to make millions and rule the earth basically. In order for the time travel to work, 1.21 higowatts (gigawatts) to operate was needed and the speed of 88 MPH. It is also powered by the Flux capacitor.

10/3/2016 - Brainstormed ideas

10/5/2016 - Started work on Delorean
10/6/2016 - Continued work on Delorean

Themes in Conceptual Film

There are so many themes in art that it’s hard to pick on the interests you the most out of them all. Luckily I can pick more than one but there's only one that really interests me the most and that's Invention and Fantasy. I like this theme the most because it can have do with many things I like such as Sifi and I believe Horror is in it too...if not, well oops. Invention and Fantasy is even being used by me for Digital Portfolio, making things that would be fantasy and having a lot of fun making them. This theme is something I'm looking forward to on focusing on with my film work and portfolio work as I'm already enjoying it so much. What I'm doing for portfolio is making bosses to a game that I want to make and the bosses can be considered fantasy...seeing that one is a four armed cave goblin. Imagining what I can do with this theme in film will be so exciting and I can't wait till we start! I guess if I had to pick another theme that interests me so much like Invention and Fantasy, it would have to be Art and Nature. Some people might think that that’s a little different than what they thought I would say but I say this because of setting up camera shots with this in film and scenery in the game I want to make. Bosses may be cool for a game, but to me it’s the nature part. I want a game that looks awesome because of the nature and other things made. The same goes for films. I like the nature in the back…you wouldn’t want a film of someone then just black behind them would you? So these two things have me excited for what I can do and make with them, and like I said…I can’t wait to start!
